Inner Calico
30cm x 23cm Linoleum Carving September 2019 Category: Block Print "Inner Calico" was inspired by the pattern and decoration art movement, the ancient Egyptians and by American artist Dean Russo. I wanted to represent the innate personality of the cat through the variation of patterns and repetition. The title refers to a type of cat with several different colors shown in its fur, but the beauty and eccentric colors show through in the cats personality as well. |
Masked Phony
Size: 20cm X 15cm Medium: Drypoint October 2019 Category: Self-portrait "Masked Phony" is a self portrait created to portray inner emotion during a tough part in life. Everyone deals with things differently, and I just choose to keep to myself. I put on a mask for others and sometimes I just want to pull it off and show people who I really am, but I can't. Masked Phony was inspired by the German Expressionism art movement, the comedy/tragedy theater masks and by Vincent Van Gogh. The title refers to the person I am and presents my personality. |
Color in a Grey World
Size: 3ft by 3ft Canvas Medium: Acrylic on Canvas January 2020 Category: Self-Portrait "Color in a Grey World" is a self-portrait inspired by famous contemporary artist Chuck Close, and by the growing style of doodle art. In this piece, I wanted to highlight how art affects my life. If I didn't have art in my life, I would be an entirely different person. Art gives me more personality. The title refers to the impact that color and art has on me and my personality, and what our world would be without it. |

Size: 20x30in Medium: foam core November 2019 Topic: Systems Design For this project, I created a system design for my teachers cabinets. I intended to meet his requirements as well as incorporate my own ideas. I was influenced by Larry Murphy and Doug Dietz, two industrial designers we were introduced to, and one of which we worked with for this project. It was created by scanning pencil drawings and organizing them into a Photoshop document to be printed onto foam core. |

Accentuated Features
Size: 30.5cm x 40.6cm March 2020 Medium: Watercolor, Fineliner and Colored pencil on Illustration Board Accentuated Features was inspired by the pop art movement, Surrealist Salvador Dali and by Belgian artist Rene Magritte. I wanted to visually represent the common conflict and saying "a game of cat and mouse". The title refers to the enhanced features of each of these animals that may lead to the mouse being caught or getting away. Cats have the advantage of eyesight, while mice have their acute sense of smell. |
Size: 18 x 24in (45.7 x 60.9cm)
Medium: Acrylic on Canvas May 2020 "The Son of Meme" was a painting inspired by the famous painting "The Son of Man" by Rene Magritte. It depicts my teacher Mr Chay eating the infamous apple, based upon a meme created of him, by myself. I wanted to create a piece based around one of my memes, because they became a large part of my Junior year as not only a form of humor, but a coping mechanism, and I wanted to commemorate it. |

Medium: Digital Model, Block build June 2020 "Minecraft Reagan" is a virtual block build created in the game Minecraft in an attempt to rebuild Ronald Reagan HS in the game, to-scale and with great detail. It was created to show not only that a game can produce art as well, but also to show growth in art and continuation with work during the quarantine of the Corona virus outbreak. I was inspired by a group known as BlockWorks. Its a group of real-life architects and designers that use minecraft as a learning platform and idea communication software. |
Size: 20 x 30in (50.8 x 76.2cm) 170 resolution
Medium: Digital Collage October 2020 "Montessori Reminiscence" was inspired by Megan Coyle, a collage artist who creates natural scenes out of recycled materials, and also by the Modern art movement. I wanted the piece to represent the passing of childhood and to bring feelings of nostalgia to those who experienced their childhood in the same place as I. I wanted to photograph some of the parts of my old elementary/middle school that made it special and made it stand out. Things Fernwood graduates would recognize. |
Size: 18 x 24in (45.7 x 60.9cm)
Medium: Acrylic on Canvas August 2020 "Quaranteens" was a piece created to represent the shared feelings we get from being in quarantine. Like we're hostages; stuck in our homes, scared to leave them, but wanting to escape. The absence of people is meant to symbolize how the presence of the virus in our cities, drives most inhabitants to stay indoors. It was inspired by a series of short videos by a NYC photographer, who captures the emptiness of the city, and made edits of these videos to represent the possible future. |
